Domonique Tolliver is an investigative journalist specializing in culture reporting and Search Engine Optimization, currently based in Washington, D.C. As the SEO Digital Editor at National Geographic, she drives audience growth and content optimization for the newsroom.
Her dedication to storytelling and illuminating injustice in society is evident throughout her reporting. Domonique’s solutions-based approach has guided her in covering topics such as the erasure of culture in Southeast Louisiana, political unrest, and the impacts of the petrochemical industry. Her work on the environmental podcast 'Engulfed' earned her a national Edward R. Murrow Award in 2023.
Domonique has gained valuable experience working with National Geographic, NBCUniversal, Shop TODAY, NOLA.com, Gambit Weekly, and Very Local New Orleans. During her tenure with NBCUniversal and Shop TODAY, she played a pivotal role in SEO strategies and content optimization, refining her skills in media integration and audience engagement.
Her exceptional talent and dedication to journalism have been recognized with accolades from the Hearst Journalism Awards Program, the Association of Alternative Newsmedia, the Society of Professional Journalists (National and Louisiana Chapters), the Catholic Media Association, the Louisiana Press Association, the New Orleans Association of Black Journalists, and the New Orleans Press Club. She was honored by the National Association of Black Journalists at the Salute to Excellence Awards as the 2024 Student Journalist of the Year.
Domonique earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication with a concentration in Journalism from Loyola University New Orleans, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Her minor in Women and Gender Studies influences her reporting, allowing her to approach stories through a feminist lens. As her career evolves, she remains committed to her passion for journalism, focusing on cultural shifts and solutions-based storytelling.
